Company Overview
Kiowa Engineering Corporation specializes in providing civil engineering services to Colorado communities and companies.
Kiowa has completed over 1000 projects since our inception in 1987. Kiowa provides a wide range of relevant civil
engineering services including drainage and flood control, open channel design, utility design, stormwater management,
environmental permitting, street and bridge design, trail and underpass design, and site development. Kiowa currently
employs 17 individuals at offices in Colorado Springs and Lakewood. Kiowa has extensive experience in major drainageway
improvements, detention ponds, hydraulic structures, box culverts and bridges.
Kiowa Engineering recently completed design of bridges and major channel improvements along Lakewood Gulch in Denver
and is continuing on the current Lakewood Gulch at Wolff Street project for the City and County of Denver. Kiowa recently
designed a multi-use regional detention pond in the Pinehurst/Academy Park watershed for the Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District. Kiowa Engineering's recent projects include a stormwater planning project for the City of Arvada, site
development services for Burt Automotive Group's new Burt Parker dealership, site redevelopment engineering for the
Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs, and infrastructure and site work improvements for a new St. Francis Medical Center in
Colorado Springs. Other current or recently completed projects include retail development in the City of Centennial,
single-family residential development in Aurora, Colorado, a long-term care facility in Thornton and a parking structure and
casino project in Central City, Colorado.
Kiowa has worked extensively with utility companies including Qwest, Xcel, Metro Wastewater, Denver Water and others.
Kiowa has worked on several projects that involved relocating military (NORAD) communication cables. Kiowa Engineering
has experience in preparing design projects to CDOT format. Kiowa Engineering has worked on a number of projects
involving complicated utilities and old infrastructure replacements including the Lowell Neighborhood redevelopment in
Colorado Springs, Colorado and projects in Central City, Colorado. Kiowa has completed many project involving irrigation
ditch crossings. The Principals of Kiowa Engineering Corporation have been involved in trail design projects for over 30 years.
Kiowa recently completed two Federal Aid projects involving Trails and Underpass design for the City of Colorado Springs.
Staff
Kiowa is fortunate to have a very experienced, senior level staff. Kiowa currently has six registered professional engineers all
with experience exceeding ten years, and four with over twenty years of experience. Kiowa also has four civil engineering
technicians with an average of 15 years of experience. Finally Kiowa has on staff a certified wetland scientist who has ten
years of experience as a wetland scientist and who also has an additional 15 years of civil engineering technician experience.
What this means for our clients is that they can be assured of being served by staff with considerable civil engineering
backgrounds gained through the completion of hundreds of projects. Kiowa believes that this is the secret of its success
through the years and the reason why Kiowa has been able to achieve nearly a 100-percent client retention rate. Kiowa
currently has over thirty clients that have repeatedly retained Kiowa for over fifteen years.
Awards
Kiowa Engineering has been nominated and received awards from the Colorado Chapter of the American Public Works
Association and the Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers. Recently, Kiowa was nominated for an
APWA award for the public-private cooperation for the Burt Automotive Parker Dealership, which involved major street,
drainage, trail and utility construction. A CASFM award was received for the Pinehurst Watershed improvements at Colorado
Academy, which involved drainage channels, an environmental learning center, a regional stormwater detention facility and
trails.
